Real Estate Agents Find That Personalized Doormats Are An Ideal Way To Close The Deal

Real Estate Agents Find That Personalized Doormats Are An Ideal Way To Close The Deal

Author: Personalized

There is a reason that closing gifts are also known as client retention gifts, too. After all, real estate agents give these presents as a goodwill gesture to homebuyers. In a recent survey conducted by REALTOR Magazine, 80 percent of the Realtors who responded said they offer closing gifts to their clients. The key to selecting an ideal closing gift is providing homebuyers with something that makes a lasting impression. What better choice than a personalized doormat, Alan and Jill Mecca believe.

The Meccas are owners of The Personalized Doormats Company (www.personalizeddoormats.com), an online company that offers a wide variety of customized doormats for homes and businesses. After buying the business in 2007 and enhancing the product offerings to include the Write Your Own Mat series and the Design Your Own DuraCoir™ series (DuraCoir™ is a high quality mat made of synthetic coco-like fabric), the Meccas noticed that they were receiving a growing number of orders for real estate agents, so they instituted a 12 percent discount program for real estate professionals.

"Closing gifts are a way to demonstrate your appreciation, and also give your clients something that will be useful and lasting," Jill Mecca said. "A gift certificate or a gift basket will be gone soon, but a durable doormat that is personalized with a message not only will stay around for awhile, but it also shows that you put thought into the gift."

A memorable closing gift can also lead to future business for the real estate agent, Alan Mecca believes.

"You never know when clients will need your services again, so the closing gift is a way to let them know that you value their business. They will be reminded of you every time they see the doormat," he said. "It can also lead to referrals. Personalized doormats are often conversation pieces, so a friend visiting the client's house might see the doormat and ask where it came from, and the conversation leads back to the real estate agent."

The Personalized Doormats Company offers an array of choices. There are mats with basic designs that you can include a family's last name (such as The Smith's). The company features aluminum doormats, wooden doormats, rubber mats, digital photo doormats and even luxury and classic doormats, which are larger than standard mats and are suitable for lavish homes with wide and elegant front doors.

The company's Write Your Own Mat series includes mats that can be customized by dog breeds, college sports, animals, camo mats (for hunting and outdoors enthusiasts), leisure, sports, military, baby/child, religion and wedding categories.

The DuraCoir™ Signature Series and the DuraCoir™ Inlay Elite Series are also popular. The Meccas call the Inlay Elite Series the workhorse of residential mats. The personalization and border are inlayed so the mat will not fade and the personalized message will not wear out.

The Signature Series mat offers the same polypropelene finish and solution dyed fabric as the Inlay, but features an added elegant touch. These mats are flocked instead of inlayed, which gives the artists more flexibilty with the finer lines, resulting in a more elegant appearance.

Stigmare and Emerald City Fashion Week Support Haiti Relief Efforts

Stigmare CEO and Emerald City Fashion Week Producer Steven Paul Matsumoto and his team were quick to react when word of the tragic events in Haiti reached them. When ECFW Marketing Coordinator Noelle Wolfe suggested that they do something to help the victims of the 7.0 earthquake the entire team sprung into action and #Fashion4Haiti was born. The teams efforts did not go unnoticed by the local media. Less than eight hours after the Fashion4Haiti site went live King 5 News was contacting Mr. Matsumoto for an interview.

Philanthropy is a key component of the Stigmare and Emerald City Fashion Week missions. We are very excited about support that we have received from the community, and hope to have our initial order of shirts sold out by the end of the week. A social media awareness campaign has been launched on Twitter and Facebook to drive traffic to the Fashion4Haiti site, but orders have been slow to come in. We have faith that our small efforts to help the people of Haiti will be successful.

Creating Customer WOW Moments

We were recently approached by the Service Director of two local car dealerships that was looking for a way to create a "WOW" moment for their first service visit customers. The goal is to increase overall service customer retention for the two dealerships. The project was fairly straight forward as they had an idea of what they wanted to do and what their budget was.

With the lifetime value of an automotive dealer customer roughly $175,000 in terms of vehicle purchases, referrals and service work retaining a new vehicle purchase customer is crucial to the long term viability of a dealership. So when a new service customer brings their vehicle in for its first service with these dealerships they are presented with a roadside kit imprinted with the dealers' name and URL. The goal of this very simple kit containing jumper cables, flashlight, gloves, tire gauge, electrical tape, standard and Philip's head screw drivers is to create a "WOW" moment when the customer picks up their vehicle.

Assuming the kits have their desired affect for less than a $20 per unit investment the dealer has a potentially exponential Return On Investment. To ensure that the kits remain a "WOW" moment they are not advertised in any service mailers, and dealership staff is instructed not to mention them until they are presented. This is a great reminder that a customer will never remember what you say to them or what you do for them. They will however always remember how you made them feel.

Promotional Advertising Is Common In Large Companies

Promotional Advertising Is Common In Large Companies

Author: Kris Ann

A whole lot of companies use promotional products to advertise and get recognition. This is such a common thing that people don't even realize how used to it that we are. It is so common that we don't even know how much it influences us and our families.

It only takes a few minutes of looking around to see that it is a big part of business in general for many companies. You will see in most any office there are piles of promotional pens and pencils, sticking out of logo mugs. If you are driving around then you will see bumper stickers that have company logos stuck on cars and trucks.

Most people walk around with company key chains that are advertising different businesses that they go to all the time. These tags are advertising for those companies all the while that they are being carried around. So not only are you getting a discount when you use those, you are also getting attention for those different stores.

Big companies that you know, such as Burger King or Nike, use advertising like this to do so much. You will see their logo's and others all over the place. On peoples shirts, their heads, and their shoes too. Certain stores will put their logo on absolutely everything in there store. It is something that we are so used to seeing that you don't even notice it.

You know that the children present in your car will know which place that they want to stop when they see the street signs for different fast food places. They know because every time they go to their favorite places they will see all of the paper products that the food and drinks come in has the logo. They are used to it. Any company can get a good logo and use it in the same way. You don't have to be an industry giant to make this happen.

The Pyschology of Color

In the November 2008 issue of Media Magazine the entire issues was dedicated to the use of color in media. Most businesses don't consider the psychological affects their color choices have on their consumers when creating their identity it may not have been what they intended. Here are some of the highlights we found to be worth bring to front of mind.

Douglas Quenqua has a great article on white and white space in particular. Some examples of brands that effectively used white in their campaigns were Apple, Gap and Ketel One. The article goes on to talk less about white as a color and more about it's use to highlight or draw attention to.

Next up was Red, the color of love and anger, of conviction and arrest, a paradox in many respects. The color Red is the origin of the term "Full-Bleed" as a result of a Leo Burnett campaign for the American Meat Institute in the 1940s. Red's ability to prompt a staunch visceral reaction at either end of the spectrum of emotion requires its use respectfully and with moderation.

What we found most intriguing was the creative power of Yellow, but in moderation. Long exposure to the color has been know to cause harsh effects on the body according to the author Laurie Sullivan.

Here is another article we found recently in its entirety by Lisa Grant on the topic as well. Odd how the topic of color seems to come to the surface around the holidays don't you think? Enjoy!

Why Color Is Important

Learn whether the colors you've chosen for your business sends the right message to your customers or sends them running.

It seems hard to believe that colors can have an impact on how we see the world around us. It's been found that color can influence our physical and mental states. Market researchers know this and use it to their advantage.

Consider the meaning of the following colors on your business marketing:

  • Blue is the color of corporate America. It represents longevity and security. Blue slows metabolism and produces a calming effect and suppresses appetite. It's been found that men especially like this color in marketing.
  • Vibrant Red is usually commands attention. It is a very emotionally volatile color that is exciting and passionate. It stimulates metabolism, increases respiration, and may even raise blood pressure. Red pops text and images off a page. It is a perfect color for buttons on webpages. This color is also commonly associated with energy and vitality, so you may want to use it when promoting energy drinks and food, sports and it's related gear.
  • Orange is a friendly, playful color. But, also one that is demanding of the viewers attention. It is energetic and feels flamboyant and casual. Orange increases oxygen supply and is said to stimulate brain activity. The energy and health orange conveys is readily accepted by young adults when used in marketing.
  • Earthy brown tones portray simplicity and comfort and credibility.
  • Yellow is uplifting, imaginative energy and is quite welcoming. Yellow usually feels warm, cheerful, triggers brain activity and gives us energy. Children and those looking to travel react very well to yellow advertising. Yellow is very effective for attracting attention when placed against a dark background. The contrast is undeniable and beckons the reader.
  • Green is associated with growth, health and comfort. It is the most restful color and is said to be able to improve vision. Of course it can be used in the financial sector.
Gray is reliable, mature, and solidly predictable.

  • Black can be powerfully formal or show high style. It makes it's mark.
  • White is simple, clean and precise.

Consider how these colors can be used by your company. We say more than we know about ourselves and the image we'd like to portray using colors in our business logos, uniforms, and marketing materials.
